Wheelchair Basketball
Wheelchair Basketball is one of the most popular sports on the Paralympic programme where 264 athletes will take part and play at the nee Basketball Arena during the London 2012 Games. There are two medal events for men’s and women’s team’s that are made up of 12 players.
Wheelchair Basketball is similar to Basketball, where the court is the same size, the basket the same height and the points scoring is the same. Wheelchair Basketball players must throw or bounce the ball after every two pushes of the wheels on the chairs to avoid being penalised.
The first Paralympic Games in Rome 1960 featured Wheelchair Basketball and it has been at the Paralympic Games ever since. A fun, fast and exciting sport to watch, Wheelchair Basketball tickets are available with accommodation exclusively from Thomas Cook.
